Monday morning, August 1, 2022 saw another deadly accident in the Upstate of South Carolina. Early morning, around 8:50am, a car was traveling on Fairview Road near McKelvie Road in Greenville County, South Carolina when it crossed the center line and hit a dump truck head on. The driver of the Lexus sedan that crossed the center line, a 40-year-old from Greenville, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger of the dump truck was also injured and transported to the hospital. No word on how the driver of the truck is doing.
Armada Law recently had a client injured in a similar kind of motor vehicle accident. It was early morning, she was going to work, and another driver dozed off and crossed the center line causing a massive wreck and significant injuries. Luckily our client made it out alive, but many are not as lucky.
Every day we get on the road, whether driving to work, dropping our kids off at school, or going out to dinner, and we must trust the person on the other side of the yellow lines. When that trust is broken, the consequences are severe and can be fatal.
Some of the consequences of accidents like these, laden with impact injury, can be:
We see many serious and specific injuries that can leave you injured enough to need hospitalization and treatment. If you have been injured, please seek immediate medical attention. These injuries can also mean you are bound to a hospital bed or medical leave to recover.
Like we’ve said before, as injury attorneys, we can’t change what happened in an accident. We can only do our best to make sure injured parties are compensated to the furthest extent of the law.
In this case the dump truck driver and passenger would likely be able to recover damages from the Lexus driver’s BI insurance policy and they would likely have a workers’ compensation claim if they were on the clock. The interplay between worker’s compensation claims and personal injury claims is complex. Anyone injured on the job where someone else is responsible for the injuries should talk to an attorney, like those at Armada Law, who handle both types of claims. If the injured parties in this case were not working or on the clock (albeit unlikely in this case) and the Lexus did not carry sufficient insurance to cover the amount of damages, then the injured folks should look at the dump truck’s insurance policy to see if they have Underinsured or Uninsured Motorist Coverage.
Accidents like these are horrible situations for everyone involved. Our hearts go out to all the families involved.
At Armada, we exist to serve families of accident victims just like these. If you or someone you know has been injured in a car accident, please contact the attorneys at Armada Law for a free consultation.
