At around 6:45 PM on Wednesday, September 7th, one person was killed in a car wreck that occurred along Highway 56 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the driver of a pickup truck was heading east on Highway 56 when they ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree before coming to a stop. This single-car collision resulted in the death of Mr. Wayne Dupre West, who is a resident of Pauline, South Carolina.
Details on the injuries sustained causing the death of the driver have not been released by South Carolina Highway Patrol. However, research on the effects of car accidents involving trees and other large objects often cites the increased likelihood of traumatic brain injury, broken bones, chest injuries, and ultimately death.
Another stressful component of these types of incidents is the subsequent property damage. A collision with a tree will undoubtedly cause significant damage to the vehicle involved and often will result in the vehicle being totaled.
